Lithium batteries set off metal detectors?

Hi, I am going on a trip tomorrow and I'm planning to use lithium batteries in my digital camera. I was wondering if they would set off a metal detector in a concert venue or airport, if I carried extras in a bag?

Any help you could offer before tomorrow would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much for your time!

Why are you carrying your extra batteries on your person rather than in carry-on luggage? In any case, you'll have to empty your pockets anyway so the question seems irrelevent.

Carrying extra batteries loose in a bag is a bad idea. Primarily that batteries can short themselves out if they contact anything metallic in the bag. And I agree with Micheal.

Thanks for your replies. But I was thinking more along the lines of metal detectors in concert venues.

And the reason I was going to take extra batteries in a bag is because the ones in my camera typically run out while I'm using it.

The answer is yes, the case of the battery is metal, lithium is a metal, they should trigger a metal detector.

Just like the metal in the camera itself...
