    mini-laptop notebook for photographers?

With the advent of netbooks/mini-laptops/ultramobiles like the ASUS Eee PC, Acer Aspire One, HP MiniNote, and MSI Wind just to name a few, wouldn't it be a great idea if they made one that was geared towards photographers, i.e., have faster processors, higher RAM and bigger HDs, etc?

I mean, a mini-laptop would have a much better screen and would be more versatile compared to a photoviewer/backup device like say, an Epson P series device. You could have photo editing tools in your mini-laptop as well as access the internet and do word processing, apart from backing up your photos.

I've read in these forums numerous times of the inconvenience of bringing a laptop on trips for photo backups. I'm thinking having the power of a Macbook Pro on a ten-inch screen size laptop would be a great idea.

    What do you guys think?

It's coming, with dual core processor and big disks at a high premium on the prices.
A colleague at work picked one up in Japan and put in a 200G drive.
If he brings it in again I'll get a photo...

    Agh

The idea of the mini-laptops is that they are small and simple to do a set of standard tasks. The original one didn't even have Windows, it was Linux packaged with programs to surf on Internet, do some simple word processing, etc. It was cheap and the battery lasted for 6 hours. The original mini-lapstops were just tools that you bought and used.

If you put in a big disk, more memory, a dual core processor - you might as well add Vista as well - it's no longer a mini laptop, it's just a small laptop. And those have been on the market for ages.

Dell are selling the Ubuntu mini laptop for £269, 8G SSD drive.
But the "ultimate" version has XP and a massive 16G of disk.
    Neither suitable.
