I've been using an ancient tripod for years now and I'm ready to upgrade. I'd really like to have true low angle, the ability to flip the center column down and easy setup. I'm sacrificing on weight because I'm on a budget.

My short list is the Manfrotto 055XPro or the 458B Neotec.

I like the way the 055 center column flips without having to remove it. The huge pro for the Neotec is the quick release on the legs. I shoot outside on uneaven ground a lot. But I'm worried about the build quality and if they'd be difficult to repair. Also, can I cancel the need for perfectly leveling the tripod by using a mag head?

Has anyone here used either of these tripods?
