Indoor and Dull (Dark Lighting) Atmosphere

I will be taking lot of indoor photos at a dark setting. Not quit sure how much lighting will be present. Will be using a Canon S50 and need some advice on the setting since I am a beginner. I should make sure I know what I'm doing so I won't regret on the outcomes of the photoshots.

For the indoor and dull setting, do you recommend AUTO with flash? Or using another manual setting? Which one?

It's hard to give any advice without knowing more about the conditions of your shoot, and especially the subjects.

What and where will you be shooting? Is is important the photos appear creative and ballanced? Or do you just want to make sure that your subject is well lit so the shots come out.

Without knowing the specifics, I can give you some general advice and tell you you'll probably want to use the flash, but maybe with a slow shutter speed to use some of the available light also.

Hi Steve, the shots will be inside a cafe with dimmed light. The subjects are the band and the people eating/chatting in the cafe. I want to make sure that the people will come out very weel and the background is not that important. But if possible, getting the background visible would be awesome.
