    Kodak Brownie film?

Any one here know what film goes into a Kodak Brownie? I've got a working model from last century :-) and so does a friend of mine from church. I've opened mine up and it doesn't have an uptake spool, but the shutter works ok as far as I can tell (only 2 shutter speeds, bulb and whatever). Any help would be appreciated as I'm having a retro camera obsession these days and am eager to try out my antiques.

    Re: Kodak Brownie film?

I think it might depend on the model of Brownie you have. There were many (understatement) types of them made. You can try either 127 (less common I think) or 620 (more common) roll film. B&H still sells both, but selection is narrow and they cost somewhat more than 120. If the camera uses 620, you can respool 120 film onto empty 620 rolls. You'll need two spools. One to load, the other for the uptake.
    Good luck.

Although not official, here is a site with alot of brownie info, including films.

Looks like 127 or 120 on a 620 spool. Depends on the model from what I see.

    Re: Kodak Brownie film?

My old folding camera never did take that good of photos, and I still have it. But I will not go through the touble respoiling 120 roll film to use it. I would try to find cut film holders 3.5 x 5 inch for the small range finder camera a Hugo Meye with a Carl Zeiss 135mm F4.5 lense. It would be easier just to use the Busch Vue-focus 4 by 5 but it has a Kodak Ektar lense f4.7 127mm which is a little wider than the 3.5 x 5.

My old Brownie used 620 roll film. There were a few advertisers years ago in Shutterbug that advertised respooled film to fit 620. They still might sell it.
