IR Filters

So I'm looking to play around with IR work and am wondering if anyone has used of the under $100 B and W filters or what IR Filters work best.

If you are using a digital camera, it might be tough. There is a strong IR blocking filter on the sensor.

Some special purpose digitals have the sensor filter removed but then you must use an external blocking IR filter to get normal images.

I use a Hoya 72 and it works very well. Mwfanelli is right but once you take your picture you can use channel mixer and recreate the IR. A Hoya 72 isn't that expensive new. Check out my gallery I have a couple of IR pictures there. I also bought a OEC IR filter on E-bay for less than $10.00 if I remember right. I know it wasn't much. I use a E500 and as I understand it some DSLR's will not work at all. I did a Google search for other IR sites to make sure mine would work.

Most Digital Cameras have an IR blocking filter in front of the CCD or MOS image sensor as the IR could mess up the exposure or image.

You can send your camera off and have it modified but it cost a bunch.
