Indoor close ups?

I am wanting to shot some indoor close ups of some kids blocks and some crayons, probably off of a white back ground. Any tips on lighting from you guys? I have never done indoor close ups. I have a 80-200mm lens and a 28-80mm lens for my camera.

Hi, Greg. Do you have an external flash with bounce capability? I personally like to shoot with natural lighting (soft window light) but if you must use a strobe, the easiest method would be bounce the strobe up off a white ceiling to get a soft even light. Depending on how close you are to the blocks/crayons, you may have to rotate the flash head around to actually fire it towards the ceiling behind you a bit.

I think both of the two lenses you mentioned could focus close enough for what you are describing.

Yes I do have an external flash. I just didn't know if it would work with close ups using the ceiling bounce trick. I will try it and see. I also think that there is enough natural light. I will probably be about two feet away.
