Identifying Import lenses.

Help me...help me...for I am photographically challenged.
I have a Canon 20D, a Canon 100-400 IS, and a Canon 35-80. I'm in the market for a
Canon EF-S 10-22. I see it advertised at different camera stores for prices ranging from $619 - $829. Some of these stores identify the lens as "import" with a "store warranty". I don't WANT an import. I want the US model with the Canon warranty. Is that too much to ask?
Question 1) How can I tell if the lens is an import or not?
Question 2) Anyone got any suggestions as to the best deal on a US model?
I've looked at so many camera store websites they're all beginning to run together.
I'd appreciate any assist.

At first glance you won't be able to tell from the lens itself. You would need to check the guarantee documents that come with the lens and check the serial number with the importer so confirm it's been imported through proper channels.

As far as good prices go, B&H and Adorama have good reputations for good prices and service. (they will also quote you for both US and import models)

Thanks Straightarm...I'd pretty much locked in on Adorama. Their price is about $50 higher than I've seen other places but it's worth it for the "peace of mind". Like my old Granny used to say, "Ya' get what ya' pay for". Yeah...yeah,,,not very original but she did say it. That and a lot of other corny little "down home" type stuff.

Make sure you're buying from an authorized dealer, which I'm sure Adorama is. B&H labels their website clearly so you know which one you're getting - most cases they offer both USA and Import versions.
