I Need Help!!!
Okay, i have been in the past year, yes a year been researching a new camera to buy, the reason i am going for a 35mm is becasue i am going to be using it during college. But i have decided to get the Nikon N80, but my problem right now is that i don't have 500 dollars to spend. I know im cheap, but for a seventeen year old kid thats a lot of money. So if anyone has any recorces as far where i could get an N80 for a decent price, perferable new i would be happy to hear from you. Please let me know, thanks a lot

Re: I Need Help!!!
$500! Gee - you need to get out of those local camera shops and surf the net more often!
B&H (www.bhphotovideo.com) - the only NY dealer I'll recommend - currently lists:
N80 Body at $339.95 - less a $50 rebate = $289.95
Of course, you will need a Lens with that! Their top-selling combo:
N80 with Nikon 28-80mm 3.3-5.6 G-AF Lens, at $399.95 - less $50 rebate = $349.95
Remember that you'll have to fork over the bigger price, plus shipping (typically $10-$12 from B&H, vs. $40 or more from many others) - and wait a few months for the $50 rebate check to come (hey, $50 in February can come in handy!)
Also remember, that Christmas is right around the corner. Know anyone who might, following a holiday gift suggestion from you, 'contribute to the cause'? B&H offers Gift Certificates too....
-----------------------------------
At your age (back in 1979) I worked a Landscaping job all summer, in pursuit of a Konica T4 - which disappeared from the market while I was saving up for it. Wound up with a Canon AE-1, which was a good camera. I got many good years out of it - and it's still going strong for my sister, 25 years later.
So finally getting your hands on that first good camera - after a year of research (which I can also identify with) - isn't just the realization of that dream. It's the beginning of a long run together, of making - and preserving - memories. And unlike many items that would cost this much or more, a quality camera like this, with reasonable care, can last a lifetime.
Just a thought to help you feel a little better, while coping with the immediate reality of the cost.
