I have a problem with shutter release
I have a Vivitar 3800N that i recently bought a couple of days ago. It is a manual SLR. It had been working fine, but today the shutter release button got stuck or something. The film advance lever is working fine and the film advances as long as push the lever. But the thing is the shutter release button remains like if it wasn't loaded.
It is not the batteries for this camera doesn't require them to work.

    Any help?

I didn't even know Vivitar ever made SLR cameras. I know they used to make pretty good lenses, especially the series 1.

Do you have the exposure set to time exposure? Jeff

My canon A1 has a button on the bottom of the body. You push it in to wind the film back onto the casette when you have finished the film. Has this button been pushed? I had a very similar problem to yours. Try winding the film all the way back to the start, and see how you go.

thanks for all the help guys!

i returned the camera though. it turns out that it was actually defective, which is a shame cause it looked like a pretty nice solid camera. I later bought a minolta maxxum 50 from amazon, but the auto focuse came faulty too...
    oh what luck i have...
i am currently looking into other possibilities...

    Hi Guero,

Welcome to PR :) I'm sorry to hear about the bad luck with the cameras. What in particular are you looking for in a camera and what kind of budget do you have to work with. I'd be happy to make some recommendations for you.

I got myself a Minolta Maxxum 5 and im pretty satisfied. I have full manual control, and can go completely auto if i feel like it.
    thanks though!
