How do I do a mirror lockup in a D70 for CCD cleaning?
Hello to all!
After some frustrating experience thanks to dust on my D70 CCD, i decided to finally summon the courage to clean the CCD myself and while i have all the supplies ready, i realized i dont know how to access the CCD on my D70! Any idea on how to do this?
TIA
Cheers
Kunal

According to the manual... dust can not get onto the sensor but gets onto the low pass filter (the thing that prevents moire patterns or something. Look on page 194 or so of the manual for directions on cleaning it.

If your dust is actually on the CCD it may require professional attention.

Chunk is technically correct - there's a clear glass filter over the front of all DSLR's and this is what the dust settles on. You'll have to follow the instructions to clean it which can be different for every camera. I have to use an AC adapter and press a couple of buttons as I turn on my Fuji to put it in cleaning mode. Won't work without the AC adapter, either.
Cleaning mode will lock up the mirror but it will also not energize the sensor. I've seen people put the camera on "B" shutter speed, hold down the shutter release and try to blow the dust off. This doesn't work too well (and probably isn't too good for the sensor) because the sensor is energized doing it this way.

Set Up Menu- the one with the wrench, on the latest firmware it's the yellow one.
Mirror lock up-Yes-press shutter release
do this on a FULLY charged battery that you are positive was just charged to the brim....to flip the mirror down again just turn off the camera.

Yes that is how it's done, Do NOT use alot of air pressor as it can move the stuff off the sensor into the veiw finder.

I'll add: DO NOT use compressed air, whether from a can like the stuff used to clean computer keyboards or anything else. Besides the air pressure, there is a propellant in those cans (and oil in air compressors) that will leave a residue. Life would be really bad if that happened.
