    highest quality protective filter
    Hey fellas,

I know I know, the best quality is to have no filter at all, but for my purposes, I will need to use them for especially against sea water. I ask your opinion for the very best possible brand and model out there as I do not want to add a cheapo quality filter on a high grade lens. That just wouldnt make too much sense

    thanks

Look at Hoya HMC and B+W filters, they're very good. I have several HMC's and a B+W or two - and do use a protective filter when necessary, but not very often. A lens hood would be a good investment too.
