Help - Pull Processing TMAX 400

Happy Monday, everyone. I'm off to a great start. :rolleyes:

I accidentally exposed a roll of TMAX 400 at 100 ISO. I usually shoot 100, and that's what my light meter was set for. I'm an idiot. What can I say.

Can anyone tell me how much I should alter the processing to compensate? I know I need to reduce development time, but I don't know how much. Should I develop at the recommended time for TMAX 100? Or, should I reduce development to somewhere between the recommendations for 400 and 100?

This problem has spurred another question: I've tinkered with altered development times before, but nothing this drastic. In researching this problem, just now, I read that TMAX is not good for push or pull processing. I'm trying to learn a little about the Zone System. Should I be using a different film? :confused:

I use D-76, if that matters. Any advice is appreciated.

Have you seen the Massive Dev Chart? It does list this film at ISO200 with D76 but this would leave you one stop over over exposed. At 20 deg C (68 deg F) and a 1+3 dilution of the stock solution, they recommend 15 minutes if exposed at 400 and 12 minutes if exposed at 200. From this, maybe 10 minutes is a good guess for a development time.

Don't use the recommended time for T-Max 100. I didn't use T-Max films too much except for the 3200 which I never tried to develop myself. Tri-X can be pushed very easily; 400 and 800 are the same developing time IIRC. I've seen good results at 1600 but I think that was with HC110.

AV, thanks for the advice. I have seen that site before, but I forgot all about it. I have it bookmarked now.

I developed the film last night, and it seems to have come out pretty good...considering. I developed for 10min & 30sec using D-76, 1:3 dilution...starting at 68 degrees. After a quick look through the loupe the tonal range seems decent at least...better than expected. I'll scan them tonight and post a few for examples.
