help! pinkish background

Hi,
I am new to the forum. I have a canon s45 which I've owned for just over a year. Recently, when I'm taking indoor pictures, it gives me pinkish background. At first I thought there's not enough lighting, but I've taken pictures before with less lighting at that same spot (my apartment), and it gave me better result (i.e glaring pictures, but not pinkish). Do you know what's going on with my camera? For your info, I was using the auto mode, and didn't change any settings. Thanks alot, I really appreciate it!

Does it give you a pinkish background in all indoor pictures, even those taken at a different indoor location? Or is it just in that spot in your apartment?

Could it be something as simple as having changed brands of lightbulbs?

I don't think it's the lightbulbs, because I've taken many pictures before, and no pinkish background. I contected canon customer service, however, and they told me to reformat the CF card. Does this make sense? I thought the camera is faulty, not the CF card.

I guess I can see that the CF card could possibly be at fault. After all, it's a tiny disk drive, sorta. Perhaps some of the zeros and ones got jumbled, which makes the card think that "white" is made up of tiny bits of red.

I can't explain it in a way that makes any sense, but I guess I would try reformatting as a first step. It is, after all, the cheapest solution.

If the camera has white balance control, perhaps that's got knocked by accident?
I know on my A2 when I use it portrait I've accidentally hit the white balance button a few times.
I don't know enough about the s45 to know if that is the problerm.
But I detect bovine excrement in high quantities when a CF card is blamed for a colour cast.

I tried reformatting, and it didn't work. As for the white balance control, I was using auto mode. The auto mode in s45 basically doesn't let you change any setting, except for the option between flash, and no flash :p So I'm pretty sure it's not the white balance control. I'm posting a picture of how it looks like. I was using auto mode, with flash. Not only the picture is pinkish, it is also kind of blurry which is weid because the flash was on. By the way, the dog is my foster 'kid', and it is up for adoption, in case anyone is interested :) Thanks guys for all the inputs.

Did you try to reset the settings to default values? Most camers have this option.

I've tried resetting to default and it is still giving me the same result. I took some pictures outdoor today, and it was terrible. No color at all, just plain glaring white. I've decided to sent it to Canon service. Too bad it is just over the warranty :( Thanks everyone for your input!
