    Nikon Lens compatability

I am thinking of getting a Nikon F55 and D40 because I need to upgrade my film stuff and i thought, keep everything compatable. Will the AF lenses from the F55 work with the D40 and vise versa?

From what i have read i gather they will but i want to make sure before i go on a spending spree.

Also, i have read that the D60 isn't really worth the extra cash for a beginner/amatuer. Is this true, any other opinions?

    cheers guys

    Re: Nikon Lens compatability

if the lenses have an internal drive mechanism, they will. However, if they don't, then they won't AF. the d40 lacks an internal drive mechanism, so any lens that doesnt have the AF built in won't AF. The lens will work other than that.

Just been reading up on kenrockwell.com.

apparently the lenses F55 and D40 aren't completely compatable however the F75 will be completely compatable
