    Nikon help

    Hi everyone!

I recently purchased a used Nikon FM camera. So far I really like it; it's taken some awesome pictures. However, when I first brought it home, the shutter wouldn't release. So I took it back, and they fixed it for me. Then, about 2 rolls of film later, the same thing happened. Has anyone else had this same problem, and would it be better to just get a different camera rather than keep trying with this one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might ask them what they did, maybe it's a simple fix and/or they'll warranty their work. Will the film advance move, is it already advanced (and shutter cocked) or is the lever stuck halfway?

They said something about adjusting the curtain brakes. Usually I can advance the film, and then the shutter will release normally, but every once and a while, when I attempt to advance the film, it gets stuck, and then the shutter won't release. The repair dude at the shop said that the reason I couldn't advance the film was because the shutter was a tiny bit open, and that the shop would fix it for free, because they worked on it before, and the repairs were under warranty. But I don't want to keep having this problem, because it's kind of inconvienient to have to fix it all the time.

The shutter in that camera should last for a long time, and if repaired correctly should be good for years. As long as they've got it right now, you should be set. This isn't considered a "normal" repair that should have to be done again.
