    Hello everyone,

    This is my first time on this site and i am new to photography. I hope someone can help me with a software quiery i have. Basically what i want to do is find some sotware where i can adapt and change portraits of people in the same way that you can 'cartoonise yourself' on the web. any suggests would be gratefully recieved,

    I highly recommend Photshop Elements, especially for beginners. But then, my son-in-law works for Adobe...

    Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro will probably do what you want.

    There is a very powerful free photo editing program, GIMP. But the learning curve is very steep. I agree with the others that for starting Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro is a good choice. I use Thumbs Plus as my photo viewer, it is not free but has some basic editing functionality and I don't have to leave Thumbs Plus for doing the basic stuff: rotation, cropping, adjusting color, gamma and resizing.
