Editing software

I am looking for the best editing software, I am just starting out, and am unsure of what to look for! Any suggestions?

What one considers best isn't suitable for another but Adobe is pretty much the standard.
I'm a Nikon guy so don't know what editing software you got with your Canon.
I believe most if not all the editing programs have free trials so I think it would serve you well to give them a tryout before purchasing.
There's a large difference in prices so your budget will come into play.
Adobe elements,(they're up to 8 now), can be had for around a hundred buchs while they're CS4, used by pros, runs up to 700.

One of the good things about Adobe is that there is a wealth of 'how to' info out there.
Not sure about the others.

For the budget use the free GIMP or not to costly Paint Shop Pro or what ever its called now or any of the other middle of the road other programs like Elements, Or the costly PhotoShop CSxx.

You might want to look through the Photography Software & Post Processing Forum.

There are lots of choices available. Most of the software on the market offers full featured Trial versions to let you work with them extensively for 30 days before plunkin' down your money!

The beauty is that most have a "try before you buy" demo which you can download and try out to see which one is best for you. My recommendation is to download a few demos and narrow it down by experience.
