    Ebay Lenses
    Hi all,

After recently looking for lenses for my Fuji S5100, I've ran into quite a dilemma. Though, my obvious choice is the Fuji lenses, straight from the manufactuer, after looking on ebay, I've noticed there are alot of lenses that Fuji does not offer, but would be neat to have (fish eye, 3X Teleconvertor, etc.) These brands are Kenko and Opketa. Now I've heard mixed reviews on both, but I was wondering if anybody has tried any of these lenses and if they would recommend them or avoid them? Also, if you have any other lenses that would fit the Fuji S5100 that would be great too.

    Thanks alot,

    Jared

I'm not going to be a lot of help - but - here goes. Kenko products have always been pretty good with me, including Tokina and Hoya that I think are owned by the same company (not sure on that, maybe just same US rep but they're good people). Some cameras need adapters to attach the lens to the camera, so you may need this too.

I do have a wide angle and fisheye for my Nikon Coolpix which are Nikon lenses. They're really good although the wide adapter (20mm equivalent! :D ) is just a little soft/distorted at the edges but I'm not surprised. Only a problem if shooting a brick wall, anyway.

I didn't want to spend the money on an SLR fisheye lens so it's a good option. Not something you'll want to use too often because the effect can get old, but it can be really great for the right shot.

Go ahead and try one and see what you think. Are they going to replace top-of-the line optics? No, but I'm sure they'll be fine for most uses.

    Steve,

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to purchase one next pay day!

    Thanks!
