Dirty Sensor

So whenever I shoot above f/8 on the 20D here at work, I start to get noticable dark circles in my frames. I'm assuming it's a (very) dirty sensor but would love to get a second (or 10th!) opinion from others who've experienced the same before I take it in.

That's what it sounds like to me - probably more noticable at shorter focal lengths too. There have been a lot of posts here about different methods that people use to clean sensors, but taking it in is an option too.

I had the same problem with both of my Canons. They really need to get on the ball like Oly and Pentax and install wave filter.

A lot of people reccomend the rocket blower...worth a try before you spend big money.

Thanks for the info and tips, everyone. I'll check out some of the other options besides taking it into the local lab. Money is less of an issue since work is paying for it, but I'm sure the time will come when my own camera will need to be cleaned, and it'll be coming out of my pocket.

Definately, you can get the blower around $10 and if that leaves stubborn spots, you can get the green-clean swabs. Both are easy to use, and the swabs are like $30 (pack of 10). I use both frequently with no problems (yet).

Gotta say, I've had a DSLR for 3+ years and never used anything other than a Giottos Rocket Air blower. It's worked fine for me. Just be careful, follow the instructions for putting the camera in cleaning mode, and take your time.
