Also, with both speeds, about how long may it take for each picture to be processed and saved in continuous shooting mode?
thanks a lot!

Well theoretically, 45x is roughly 6.5 megabytes/sec data transfer. According to DPReview's review, the sd300 is capable of about 4+ mb/sec transfer, so based on that, I'd say stick with the 45x card for now.
Re: Digital memory question
I think that also depends on
1) your computer. Slower computers cant handle high speeds
2) your USB. USB1 and USB2 differ greatly in speed
3) what you use to transfer. If you use your camera, then it will be slow either way. If you use a card reader, it may make a difference but that would depend on 1 and 2
4) your patience. transferring works itself, so unless you are in a rush, you dont really need it.
Re: Digital memory question
I assume you are talking about camera saving images to the card not transfer to PC.
Some cameras are better at writing to cards than others and some cards are better suited to certain cameras.
See http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/page5.asp for a review of a load of CF cards agains cameras and you'll get the idea.
I have a Canon Powershot Pro 1 and it works well with the SanDisk Ultra II 1Gb card - not tried shooting multiple frames yet.
