Question D100 shooting blank shots. help!

Friends Nikon d100 is having problems.

after taking a picture, the image does not show up on the screen. It's blank. Yet it occasionaly shows a sliver of the picture. We have checked the shutterspeed and apeture and they dont seem to be the issue. Please help.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

are the images on the card as you viewed them through the viewfinder or are the slivers/ blank? If the images on the card are as you discribe...... I would say BAD SENSOR is a very good possiblity. If the image on the card are fine..... BAD SCREEN or wiring to it is the most likely problem.

REPAIR is the answer to both

Maybe pulling the batteries(ALL ) will help? Electronic devices are funny acting at times. Remember all custom function settings and reset to default settings too.

Definately start with pulling the battery and charging it. If that doesn't do it, try downloading the card to see what (if anything is on it). I'd say a process of elimination is the best bet. You'll have to do something if it's a bad sensor, but you may or may not be able to live with without the LCD. Nikon could, of course, fix whatever's wrong - but it helps to be able to tell them as much as possible so they can help you as much as possible.
