Shooting bands is tough. You're in low light levels with changing light levels with subjects that are moving. Any one of those adds to the challenge, but have all three and it's really tough to get decent shots. You've done pretty well but I'm guessing by what you say that there's a fair amount of luck involved. Nothing wrong with that, but learning about it will probably lead to a higher percentage of good shots versus ones you might delete.
One other thing to consider, the lights themselves don't need to change for light levels to change. If the singer takes one step back, the amount of light on him would be different. In clubs, the people in the band are so close to the lights that one step makes a difference. In a 20,000 seat arena where the lights are 50' above their heads, it won't make anywhere near as much of a difference (and at that level of production, the light levels will be higher making it easier). So, it's almost impossible to get shots in a club that are anything like what you see from a high-level tour regardless of the equipment used. Skill and experience will help, but that's a tough situation.
At the top of this page, click on the "Learn" tab and look for articles on exposure and the histogram. Good stuff to learn. Also, try going to a big outdoor festival that allows cameras. If there's a pretty big headlining act at night, chances are the lighting will be good which will help a lot for getting nice shots.
