    lens advice please

I have eos 300d , with 70-200 canon lense , i wish to take indoor showjumping pics without a flash , I am in with the horses so distance will be about 40-50 feet , under flouresent lighting , is there a different size lense which could give me more better light options as on `tv` mode they are dark and grainy !!!

thanks for any help offered .

    Re: lens advice please

You will either need a fast lens F2.8, or use high ISO film or settings. Show Jumping at any arenas, flash isn't a good option due the horses spooking with the flash. I have had good results using a 50mm F1.4 lens (prepositioned) but the DOF will kill you photos if you are not careful. Also if you are in the arena a 70-200mm zoom will not get the rider and horse with near shots. I've found that a 28-200mm works good if your in the arena, but mine is not a fast lens. In fact the 70-200 F2.8 lens is what the photographer used at most of the shows I've been at.
