can't upload photos to laptop but works fine from main computer

Hi everybody, I got a sony cybershot dsc-p72 gifted to me, I don't have the manual or the software discs? I think they come with. Everything works great except I can't figure out how to upload the photo's to my laptop, on my main computer I just plugin with a usb cord and windows automatically has a popup that I can veiw/copy photos from, when I plug it into my laptop it recognizes the connection but nothing popsup and I don't know how to open it. help plz

Is it the same version of windows on both computers?
Are there any programs you've installed on your main computer that you haven't got on your laptop?

If you've installed programs on your main computer like Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, Picasa, then any one of those could be popping up to transfer the files.

I have to fight to turn off this kind of loading popup, because I far prefer to do it myself and have compete control over the copying.

The best way to do it is get a memory card reader and plug that in the computer, then take the card out of the camera and plug it in the reader.
It works faster, doesn't need special software, and you can just drag/drop to where you want them.
