    newb - blurry prints

hi all my name is gary i havent been taking photos long and cant really afford to get stuck in like im sure most of you. however i do like taking photos.
recently i attended the england andorra game at wembley and like every other person i had a fantastic time watching england stomp home 6-0 victors, before durin and after the game i took a fair few photos to remember my day but when i sent them to truprint to be printed out they have all returned blurry and im quite dissapointed. they were all printed in 6x4 except 2 were 10x8. could this be because i resized the images on my computer before i sent them to be printed (still have the origional sizes too) or something i have done wrong or just a naff camera?.
im not a hardcore photographer but its a shame they didnt come out printed as good as the look on my computer.
the camera i use is a fujifilm finepix j10 8.2 mega pixels 3x optical zoom with fujinon zoom lens 3xf=6.2-18.6mm 1:2.8-5.2 (sorry just copied all that of the camera)
    thanks for reading

    Welcome to the forum Gary.

You don't have to get "sucked in" to get great pictures. Any chance you can up-load some picture so we can see what exactly you are talking about.

Remember the best thing about digital is you can shoot as much as you want with out the need to print so you can practice, then practice some more and just when you think you got it, practice some more.

Welcome, to help you, we really need you to upload a sample. But you need to resize the image so the longest side is 800 pixels or less, and the file size is less than 293K.

Don't know but you shouldn't have to resize to print. Re-sizing does affect quality.

    Re: newb - blurry prints

You should not need to resize before printing.
Unless you are trying to crop it down to a small part of the original image.

You can upload the full size images into your personal Gallery here on the site.
Let me know when you've done that and I'll take a look at it, see what can be done.

The forum is restricted to 800 pixels maximum on a side, and 293K file size, and by the time you've converted to that (depending on how you convert) you might adjust it so we can't see the problem.

    Re: newb - blurry prints

Gary, here's how to upload to your gallery.
Up at the top of your screen, there's the roll-over menu.
Roll over the word SHARE with your mouse, then the menu drops down.
Click on Photo Gallery in that drop-down menu.

When the gallery displays, on the right hand side of hte blue menu bar there is an option Upload Photos, click on that and you can load a photo straight off your hard drive into the gallery.

Click on one of the Browse buttons.
In the window that pops up, browse to the photo you want to upload, select it and then click the Open button.

The filename will appear in the grey box next to the button.
You can upload up to 4 photos at a time.

When you're ready to send them, click the Upload/Submit button at the bottom of the page, you'll almost certainly have to scroll down to find it.

After that you get to the processing screen.

You don't have to fill in the title, description, and keywords for the images but if you have time it's good to put something in the title and comments at least.

Click on the Process button at the bottom, and your images are added into your personal Gallery.

If you didn't put in a title, a box appears telling you so ... just click on the OK button to make it go away and the processing continues anyway

Gallery and Forums are complementary. Every image you attach in the forums will be added to your personal Gallery by default, but the Gallery allows you to upload full sized images.
People can comment on your images in the Gallery too, as we can comment in the forum threads, but there's almost a different community in the Galleries. Some people frequent both and there's a few who don't come to the dark side of the Forums and use the gallery sections instead.
