    Canon EOS A2 Questions
Hello all. Complete beginner to photography here, so please excuse any ignorant questions I may have. I have borrowed a EOS from a fmaily member with a nice 28-105 ultrasonic lens to learn on.

I loaded it with a new roll of film, but for a class I am taking, I want to take that roll out since it will be for my personal practice. Can I take a roll out once I loaded it in before I finish the roll wit hthe intention of re-using it? How would I go about doing that? Can I rewind the film, take it out, but then how do I put it back in and get back to the spot I left off at?

note which frame you are currently on

set custom function 2 to on (1)

this means the leader will be left out when you rewind the film.

    Rewind the film

    use the other film

when you want to go back to your original film, put the film in the camera, and let it wind onto frame 1 automatically

Put a lens cap on the lens, or a body cap on the bodies and set the camera to maual mode. Select a realy fast shutter speed, and if you have a lens on the camera a small aperture. Wind the film onto the frame you noted when you took the film out of the camera, plus one for safety.

(There is no need to cover the viewfinder. Light can get from the viewfinder to film as the mirror will block it.)

    Now shoot as normal.

    Thanks for the reply....two questions.

What is the custom function 2? Is that a selection on the dial, and if so, what does it look like?

And how do I 'wind' the film to the frame I left off on?

    Thanks!!

Do you have the manual for this camera?

If so read it, as this will explain all about the custom functions and how to set them

If not, get one. Try googling

It's been 4 years since I sold my EOS5, whichn is essentially the same camera as the A2E & A2. IIRC, the main dial has a CF position. To set custom functions, you turn the main dial to that position.

To wind the film on, press the shutter realease button, and the shuter will trip and the the film will be wound on by one frame.
