I don't think Bronica had a cheaper series of lenses - it's MF gear and aimed towards pros just because of that.

I have some experience with their SQ 6x6 cameras, and they had a P and a PS series for their lenses. The PS were the newer ones - they had 1/2 stop clicks on the aperture ring and in some cases were supposed to be better (sharper, more contrast, etc). The S lenses didn't have the 1/2 stop clicks although the lenses could be set about 1/2 way between two stops, but this isn't really accurate enough for transparency film in some cases. It may be the same thing here in a different format, for 645 maybe?
