Is bicubic the best interpolation method?

As a good "Photoshoper", I alway interpolate my pictures using the bicubic algorithm. I belive it to be far superior to the other methods available in that program.

I use the PC at home and for viewing my photos I rely on the great freeware XnView. I noticed that XnView has many other interpolations methods than Photoshop, and decided to give it a try. Wen downsizing my photos using the Mitchell interpolation, I discovered that it produced a far smoother, pleasent image that Photoshop's bicubic.

In my tests, using Mitchell, resizing, and finally aplying USM, gives me great looking pictures. And, differently from other programs which also work with Michell-method, XnView's Mitchell does not produce color shift.

Do you have any other ideas or workarounds for Photoshop's bicubic??
