    Question about IPTC metadata standards

    Hello,
I am trying to apply IPTC metadata standards to images from major motion pictures and am having trouble figuring out what field to use to describe the timeperiod that is represented in the image (i.e. a film that was shot in the 1980's but that is set in the 1800's - were do I describe that the image depicts the 1800's).

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Re: Question about IPTC metadata standards

There is no standard property for which you're asking in the specification. It's a special case. One option would be to encode your data into an existing property that you're not currently using for something else. Another option would be to add the era as a note to an existing property such as the Description property (which is probably what I'd do). Literally, append "Era; 1800" to the Description property.

If you require automated processing then you can make it easy to parse the description properly for the Era value you enter.
