Adorama branded Batteries? (for DREBEL)
Gonna be buying an SLR setup from adorama, planning on getting a spare battery. Does adorama make a good battery for it, or other branded batteries? I need an NB-2H or equivalent.

Finally Mr Yuck gets an SLR! XD
But from what JSPhoto says, Everything except Namebrand (Canon, Nikon) will set your house on fire.
Lemme see if I can dig up the thread....
EDIT: Ah yes, Here it is.

I have bought off-brand batteries for my cameras quite a bit. Brands carried by stores, such as Adorama, Wal-Mart, etc. are just as good as Canon. Some last a little bit less, some last a bit longer.
I would not gamble on batteries purchased from places such as eBay. There, you never know what you are getting.
Fires are very rare. In fact, the last major battery fires were caused by Sony batteries! So much for brand names are safer!

This would be my backup battery, I'd charge it in my car...plus it's Adorama, not some ebay store from the other side of the world
Yes Tel...I just cant take it anymore. A combination of HDR from raw, 10mm lenses, and the 50mm f1.8 thread were major factors that twisted my arm.
Off topic: sorta
Rebel XTi and kit lens (probably gonna give the kit lens to my gf)
Sigma 10mm-20mm
Canon 50mm f1.8
4gb CF
UV filters for all the lenses
spare battery

if you're going to go ebay, buy from eforcity. They are a very reputable dealer, very customer-oriented.

Of the 4 batteries I use in my DRebel. only one is from Canon, and they work great. I did have one that died after about a month, but the rest are great. I would and will continue to buy the aftermarket batteries.

Ebay is the best example of Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware) that probably has ever existed. There are good sellers as well as con artists out there and unless you can tell the difference you could be throwing away money.
JS says that Canon batteries are different, and having no experience with their gear I can't comment. I have a few different types of batteries for my Nikon Coolpix - the Nikon supplied battery is still good after almost five years. The "Digital" brand I bought from B&H is just about as good and was half the money as the original. I also have a couple that have a much higher mAh rating (how much capacity the battery has) than either the Nikon or the Digital but they're crap. I bought them on Ebay and they last about half as long. You get what you pay for and I had a feeling this would be the case. However, they have never (yet) caught fire, damaged my camera or anything else.
I'd bet that Adorama brand batteries are pretty good for aftermarket - after all, it's a very well known store with a reputation to uphold. Will they turn a Canon into a paperweight? Check Adorama's warranty. Obviously Canon only wants you to use their batteries because they sell them...
