    Equipment help

    Hello,

I recently received a Tamron 24-135mm lens, with no camera body, lol.
Can anyone recommend a decent priced and durable camera body that is compatible with these lenses?

    Victor,

First off, Welcome to the forum.

Next, do you know what version you have? Tamron makes that lens for Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Minolta/Sony.

How much are you looking to spend for the body? What so you plan on shooting? Is there anything that the body needs to do in order to fit your needs?

Wow, Victor! Now that's a new approach getting into photography.
James is correct. It could be made for any of those cameras but you'll need to find out which one. I'd suggest taking a picture of the mount but I guess you'd have to get someone to do that for you.
If there's a camera store around, they'd know.
Welcome to the forums and I am curious as to how you came to get a lens before you got a camera.

    Re: Equipment help

It was a random gift from my Dad. He used to take photos for the local paper, he mentioned it was from a Nikon, N80 or N90, I can't remember. I know it was film and not digital.

I want a digital body, but I'm not sure if these lenses are compatible or not. My aim with these lenses and future body camera was to take decent pictures with my family, either on or off vacation.

I want to say that my budget might not be an issue, but then again, I have no idea on the price ranges for digital camera bodies. I won't be going into professional photography any time soon, so I guess I would take recommendations from any low to mid-quality cameras.

    Thanks in advance,
    Victor

Your Local camera store should know, but If it fits a Nikon N80 or N90 both are great film cameras. But the AF may not work if you just buy a new body. You need to make sure that AF in the camera will work with the lens. I believe that lens you have requires in camera body focus motor, which will limit your choices of camera bodies.

Unless you purchase a full fame DSLR camera the lens will work as a 36-197mm lens as to the angle the of view (24-135mm full frame lens)

    Nikon D800, 50mm F1.4D AF, 16-35mm, 28-200mm & 70-300mm

Should work on any but the D40, D40x, and D60. It would work on them but would not auto--focus.
Don't know if its a good lens or not.
    Dad dropping hints?
