300d: how do you disable the flash

I went to do some macro work and didn't want the flash but it kept popping up. Can it be disabled?

I don't have a 300d, but were you using it in auto mode? Try the P mode or the other manual modes (Tv, Av, M) and it won't pop up (unless you want it to).
