    Props to Rangefinder Magazine!
    Just got the new issue of Rangefinder in and it was their fine art issue. I was thumbing through the usual digi/Photoshop stuff when I stumbled across a gem of an article about a couple of photographers who shoot primarily tintypes.     Rangefinder is a great deal of a magazine for the photographer that has even a passing interest in doing a little commercial business. I'd recommend it highly and the price is right. FREE!!!

    For sure, can't beat the price. It is definitely more commercial portrait/wedding/fashion photography oriented but, contains lots of food for thought.

    Make your own tintype camera! Find a Compur-Rapid shutter with a lens and build a box! Or even do a pinhole. The exposure rate for tt's is quite slow as I recall and the depth of field will truly 'stand out' on the plate!

    8x10 cameras are beasts! Not real field friendly unless you like backpacking a lot of stuff.

    There's that one company who makes a photo sensitive emulsion in a jar/bottle (I'll look it up if you don't know what I mean) that is meant for printing on an abstract surface, but will work as plate emulsion. Then you can scan or shoot the plate again to reverse the image. Not a tintype but certainly a halide image of any size you want!

    I know the feeling, finally starting to get time back on my side again myself.

    There's several makers of liquid emulsion. I've thought about trying some myself but, haven't gotten the gumption to try it yet :rolleyes:
