Question Olympus OM-1 Light Meter Issues

I recently aquired both an Olympus OM-1 and an Olympus OM-G.

There are good batteries in the OM-G and the light meter is working properly, however the OM-1's light meter seems to only register on the lower shutter speeds; B, 1, 2, & 4. It registers, but only on those lower speeds.

Now I'm thinking, is the OM-1's battery bad and this is causing the poor readings or is the light meter bad? I'd think it was a bad battery, but the fact that it does register in part makes me wonder if it is a bad meter.

    Thanks,
    -Dan

Re: Olympus OM-1 Light Meter Issues

I would guess it's either a nearly worn out battery, or dirty contacts, or the incorrect battery, maybe even all of the above.

My two OM10s have option (d) all of the above!
They came with work out batteries that almost worked, they had leaked and the contacts were corroded, and the new batteries I bought are not the right voltage (can't get the right ones) and so it meters about 1 1/2 stops under exposure on both cameras.

I have an OM-1 and I love it. Without the correct voltage battery the light meter on mine was off two stops. I got the correct battery from Freestyle Photo. http://www.freestylephoto.biz/e_main.php
