    Help!
    Hello friends,

So I picked up my first real TLR this weekend, a very sexy Yashica-12, everything seems to work, however the shutter will not open. Does anyone know any tricks on fixing it, that doesn't involve me opening up the camera.

Or, do you know a place in Canada that can fix it?

I googled and the winder mechanism seems a weak point, and I think that cocks the shutter too.
I assume the shutter's not locked? manual p23

I had a canonet that was froze up once and I used a q-tip and some lighter fluid. I had to treat it several times but the camera is still working and that has been a good two years ago. That is if the shutter is actually stuck.

    Alex,

If nothing elseworks, see my post in the HELP Forum, Titled "Film Camera Repair" dated 10-31-2009, or e-mail John at camrp@yahoo.com. I had one of those a great inexpensive camera.

    Good Luck

Thanks all! I asked around my place of employment (a College) in the Applied photography faculty, and came up with some local shops! I know of one that will be able to fix/service my camera. Going to try for the other three tomorrow by phone.

Camera went into the shop today, the place in Hamilton can do the work in house, at the best price. Plus I got to meet and chat with the guy doing the repair work.
