    Hasselblad 553 ELX arrived today

My Hasselblad 553 ELX arrived and it looks better then it did in the pictures. I am going to photograph it so I have doccumention and then I am going to be sending it off to the east coast so my tech and look at evaluate it. I have a 14 day evaluation period so I am going to have the tech check it top to bottom. Then if he says its a good deal, I am going to have him do any repair it might need so I know it will be in good shape.

I was able to turn on the camera and test the shutter. Everything seemed to work. So I am crossing my fingers.

In the middle of all this, I also bought a Bronica ETRsi with a 75mm 2.8 lens, winder, and back for $213.00 That should be here any day now. I ordered a few rolls of B&W and a roll of color from Calumet, so that should be here soon. I picked up a mint 150 3.5 lens to go with the camera so I will be ready to shoot some portraits.

I am pretty excited about shooting both cameras, but I need to get my chemicals bought so I don't have to send my negatives off to be developed.

Congratulations on the new toys, Jason. Sounds like you've got some fun ahead of you. I'm looking forward to seeing some shots from both cameras.

Thanks Paul. I got the 553 ELX sent off and the Bronica came today. I found a manual on line in PDF form so I can start figuring out how everything works on it. Unfortunately it has a 220 back on it and I have 120 film. I have heard of people running 120 in a 220 back but I do not know if I want to try it. Maybe someone more experienced will chime in here.

Your tag line could not be more true. Most of these guys shooting digital do not realize that there is an Analog to Digital converter in their cameras.

Thats a great camera, I think its a real smart move to send it right to a tech. The Bronica should be nice to shoot with as well. Looking forward to seeing how these cameras perform.

Thanks, I got some 120 Ilford B&W film but the Bronica came with a 220 back. Although I know I can get away with running the 120 in the back, I know its not a good Idea because it can mess up the counter. I do have a 120 back coming from Shutter blade that I bought last night so I will be set once it gets here.

Here is an interesting note for those who might be interested. I talked to Tamron today, and I found out they are still repairing Bronica's and the lenses. I was told they will be doing so until at least 2011. So at least repair is currently available if necessary. As cheap as bodies and lenses are for Bronica, I imagine it might be cheaper to replace than to repair.

Congrats on the new cams and I'm looking forward to seeing some shots The Bronicas are an AWESOME value when it comes to MF gear. I chat with a couple guys on Flickr who swear by them and they can be had for dirt cheap these days.

Dirt cheap is right! $213.00 for an ETRsi, Speedwinder Grip, 220 back, standard non-metered prism, and 75mm 2.8 PE lens. Hard to beat that deal.
