127 film

Yes it's a blast from the past isn't it?
I was thinking of taking out Dad's old eliptical body plastic Brownie, the first camera I ever used.

I'm actually glad you posted this. I have access to some older cameras, including a couple Brownies, that take 127 but I wasn't aware it was still being produced. Those dirt cheap Baby Rolleis on Ebay are looking much better now :D

Have you ever shot any Efke film? I was looking for some low speed b&w film in 120 but, other than Pan-X, which I read can be very finicky, Efke was the only other brand I could find in the ISO50 range.

No, not used Efke at all - yet.
First task is to develop a roll of Kodak Verichrome Pan film.

Is it the same formula as the Efke or are you just saying you need to develop some period?

Nope, the Kodak VP was found in a box, seems to have been used by my Dad and escaped being eaten by the mice that sneaked into the two floors of the house he didn't use.
Has been there since, oh I don't know, possibly the mid 60s.
Though it looks possibly older, I think I remember using VP myself because the explanation of the name stuck. Might possibly be one of mine.

Very cool. Hope you post some shots if you get it developed. Also, if you end up using the Brownie I'd be interested in seeing your shots. Might have to scrounge up some 127 myslef to play. Would be fun to use one of my grandfather's old Brownies :)

Oh dang! Now I'm going to have to dig out my old camera from the 50s and give it a try.
I clicked the shutter on it a month or so ago and it seemed to work. Not even sure if its a brownie...blue with big flash reflector at top.
Do you know where I could get some flash bulbs? lol

Wow - 127 - it has been a long time since of have seen those three numbers followed by the word film. Hope you find some that works and post some pics if you do. Thanks.

I've seen it at B&H before and they still have the Efke 100 and Kodak Portra 160NC in stock. Paul's link says Kodak discontinued it 12 years ago so I think I'd go with the Efke... :)

Ooo, Efke makes IR film in 127. now that could be fun in an old Brownie :idea:
