    White stripe and the sun

I have been looking into acquiring a compact camera capable of HD. Something like the Lumix FX37 will be adequate, However this camera and even the higher priced Lumix LX3 have that annoying white strip when shooting into the direction of the sun.

Is there a compact camera around the $300-500 price range that gets around this issue but still records in HD?

I don't know much about video and don't have a direct answer for you. This may be a problem with professional video cameras, too. Any time you point any kind of camera directly into the sun you're going to have some kind of problem. A better camera may minimize those problems. We have better lens coatings than we used to and that definitely helps with lens flare. But the white line problem is at the sensor, I think. My guess is that pros would tell you the solution is avoiding pointing the camera into the sun. Better technique is often the best solution.
