    Putting the interchangable lens on the camcorder makes more sense to me than trying to make a DSLR do video. The e-mount camcorder:

    I would have agreed with you until work bought a 550D.
    this is interesting, although canons xl series cameras have been able to take L series lenses for a while now, and many many braodcast cameras have interchangable systems, but they haven't filtered down to the consumer or even prosumer markets so I am not sure if this is what people want. Either way we are in interesting times. It might be a few years before the technology sorts itself out, but at the end of it these devices will be cabable of multiple functions as standard.

    hmm I had a better look at that video today - yesterday I was very busy, and it seems like they don't do much with the lens and the camera. These shots are fairly static with limited af and almost no zoom (even when a zoom lens is attached) essentially that is the stumbling block of video slrs as well. the only difference is that the slr's audio isn't great, not that I have heard great audio out of a camcorder anyway. This is where audio adapters that let you connect and control normal microphones come in, but then we are over complicating the rig for most home users.
