    Video to DVD Conversion,,,Need Advice..

I am a stills photographer and my knowledge of Video is limited...Recently I purchased a Pioneer DVR-540H-S DVD recorder...This unit has a 160gig HDD...I have been busy converting my old VHS tapes into DVD with good results....

I dusted off my old Sony Digital 8 handycam and these holiday propose to produce a movie of our family's celebrations and covert it to DVD via the Pioneer DVD recorder..The Pioneer unit has very limited editing capabilities but it should be fun never the less...I propose to do eveything possible "in camera",,guess it will be a warts and all production...

Here is the $64,000 question...Should I record on VR Mode or Video Mode??What is the difference between the two??I will be using TDK DVD+R blanks which hold 2 hours of footage on Standard Play..

    Any advice is appreciated..

Simply put the VR mode allows you to do much, more varied and sophisticated editing. The downside however is the resultant disk will likely not be compatible with a DVD play only unit.

Thanx Ronnoco,,,,I have discovered that almost too late...I was able to convert the VR Mode DVD into Video Mode and re-burn it...It is now able to be played on any DVD player...It is a long process but can be done..
