    Problem with video camera.

    Hi,
I'm writing on behalf of my cousin. She has a mini DV camcorder
    that recently stopped working.

What happend was: She had it plugged into the wall outlet, and the
camera itself was sitting high up on top of an ice chest that was
sat on top of the counter nearby. She tripped over the wire, and of
course, the camera hit the ground.

Nothing seems to be loose, there's no rattling or anything. But her
camera - no matter whether it's on the standby setting or the review
video setting - it constantly says EJECT, and will do nothing no
matter what buttons are pressed. Also, despite saying "eject", it will
not spit out the mini dv tape that's in it.

Obviously, this is a result of the camera falling. But what exactly could
be wrong... and what could we do to fix it?

    Thank you,
    Jessica

the tape transpot assembly (the little metal cradle the tape sits in) is bent so the mechanism will not move. take it to a technician, your nearest camera shop should be able to do this for you or contact the manufacturer to find out who the authorised repairers are in your area.
