You would need to check with your manual and or web site on that one. I would think that if it isn't built in, you are out of luck,

not really, at best your camera will have infra red capabilities so could be used as night vision if there is available infra red light (or a spotlight with an infra red filter) to test the infra red capabilties, turn the camera on and point a remote control at it and press a button, if you see a light flash then your camera can record infra red light

One of my class geeks will be trying out a few of our different cameras to see if we can answer that question. We have an add on IR light that we will try with non nightshot cameras. We'll let you know tomorrow.

We took a Sony DSR PD150 without nite shot and photographed a scene with an infrared illuminator from a consumer grade TRV19. We were unable to pick up any illumination from the infrared emitter.

I think you will find that most broadcast cameras have an ir filter over the ccd/s but consumer grade ones do not as this would add to the manufacturing costs

Could be, it should be an option to shoot with/without. Would make night time surveillance shots for stories much easier.

shoot is broad daylight under expose by two or three stops and then apply a blue or green colour cast in post.

    Re: Night Vision?

you can certainly make or buy infrared lamps. i am not sure where you would buy them but a science supplies store would be the place i would look. you can buy infrared filters at most good camera shops and you should be able to fit one of these to a regular light. (it will need to be a fairly bright light as uv filters will cut more than 90% of the light emited by your globe)
