how to set camera to highest sound quality 48000 kz 16 Bit please?

HI!

I have a Sony VX2000 and I need to set it to highest sound quality which I believe is 48000 kz = 16Bit. (last time I shot it was set at 32000 because when I transferred the footage I had to convert to 48000 and it's a pain)
I did what the manual says to change the sound recording levels but at the very last step when you see this line with the cursor flashing on it, I press the dial when the cursor get to the right but nothing happens and I can't see anywhere 16 Bit or confirmation that any change has occurred.
Please help.

Record on what you think is the new settings and try some playback in the camera. Make sure that your display is turned on, it should ID it as 12 or 16 Bit. You could always reimport into avid and check what the system ID's it as.
