    help! panic! SPAZ!

Hallo! We are in extreme need of some assistance.:mad2:

Alas, we need to create a short film, but, the camera we are using is having some HIM-ish problems! (It's not working.)

You see, when we record stuff, it films, but without SOUND.

We've tried everything, and you guys are our last resort, and wonderful! The camera is a JVC mini DV video camera. We tried menu, changing the speaker settings, and we read through the book countless times. However, we were unable to figure it out.

Surely you must think we're a bit thick, but we are not. We literally tried everything. And now we're running out of time as we must start filming QUICKISH.

So yes, we moderate on Harry Potter forums, so, obviously, we couldn't ask anyone there. Hopefully this is the right place to post this, as we know how annoying it can be when newbies post stuff in the wrong forums at our site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but we need help NOW! :8:

are you using an external microphone or the built in one? if you are using an external one is it plugged in correctly, if you are using the built in one have you tried using an external microphone? are you using the camera to play back the sound or are you listening through headphones. if you are using headphones can you hear the sound as you are recording it? have you tried downloading the video to see if there is any sound recorded at all? maybe even try playing the tape back in a different camera if you have access to one. if all of those "tests" draw a blank you will most likely have to send the camera off to get repaired. finally is it a consumer mini dv camera or a pro mini dv camera as if it is a pro camera there will be a way to set volume levels. if they are set two low you won't hear anything on the tape (you need them peaking at about -12db I hope that helps but i suspect your camera will need to go to the doctor.
