Canon DC210

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums, and I need help.

I've recently won a Canon DC210, but I'm not completely satisfied with the quality of the video I'm getting; it's very grainy. Now, I've won it yesterday, so I haven't had much time to explore the finer details of this camera (ie. I did not finalize a disk or tried it outdoors).

I mean, I got it for free, I can't complain, but there's no way I can do decent video effects (with adobe after effects) with that quality.

So... is there any tips I could use to reduce grain, whether it be something on the camera itself or after finalizing the disk, using AE.

You have a DVD camcorder. I would suggest looking at the Stickied thread above about the quality of a DVD versus a MiniDV based camcorder. Check your record mode and see what tape speed you are taping at. The longer a tape lasts in the record mode, the more quality you will lose in the long run.

the graininess could also be a by product of the exposure settings you are using. are you using it in low light or with the aperture closed down (smaller f number?) the camera could be upping the gain to compensate for a lack of light and this would give you the grainy look.

Bingo! Looks sharp and clear in daylight. It's pretty sensitive then, because I don't really consider my room as "Dim", but whatever, now I know .
