SLR lens compatibility

Hi all,
I'm new here. Purpose for joining is to learn more about digital SLR. I've been using
point shoot Konica/Minolta and Fuji for a couple of years, but want more. My husband
and I have many lens from our 35mm SLR days.
Stupid question #1: are any of the following lens compatible with any digital SLR bodies -Minolta bayonet mount, circa 1970-80
Olympus OM-2 circa 1970-80
Canon circa 1960-70
Kodak Retina reflex circa 1960.

hm.. i think Minolta bayonet mount compatible with Sony D-SLR camera.. I'm not sure..
since I read from a review it said "compatible with Minolta A-Type bayonet mount lenses"

I can tell you for sure that the Canon lenses (FD? or maybe even FL?) will not work on modern digital SLRs. Canon changed lens mounts in the 1980s and there are no easy ways to adapt them to the new mount without complex, often poor quality optical adapters.

You can purchase an adapter for your OM system lenses to be used on the current Olympus E-Series and other 4/3 system cameras.

If your Minolta lenses are Maxxum auto focus lenses, they'll work with Sony DSLR's.

Yup, finally made it to the camera store today to find my old style Minolta bayonet
lenses do not work with the Sony. Shucky darn and other epithets. So, square one - can anyone recommend a "starter" DSLR system for not too many $$? Thanks.

Minolta changed their lens mount some time in the late '80s or early 90's.

Canon changed their lens mount some time in the 90's, I think.

I don't recall what Olympus did with their lens mount but I would not be surprised if they did something similar.

Only Nikon has kept their mount from their manual-everything to today's auto-everything system. I occasionally use my old Nikon lenses made back in the '70s with my D70. I can use the lens from my D70 on my old film camera that I bought brand new in 1983 but I cannot control the aperture and I will get severe vignetting but it does work. I do have to use stop-down metering with this combo but knowing that I have to do so will save me a lot of way underexposed images!
