    Tokina AT-X M100 100mm f/2.7 PRO D for Nikon AF
    Hello,

I am looking at possibly getting this lens for my new D80 and was just curious if anyone in here has experience with this lens. I am interested in the macro as well as the large aperature rating. I did not find any reviews on it in the main portion of this website.

    This what I currently have.
    Nikon D80
    AFS VR 18-55mm Nikon
    AFS VR 55-200mm Nikon
    Nikkor 50mm 1.8D

Here is a link to the manufacturers webpage.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I've used one some, it belongs to my old photo/video teacher (MJS here) and it has produced some very nice stuff both for macro and portraiture. Like Nikon macro lenses, but unlike some other brands and other third party lenses, it will report the actual effective aperture as you focus closer, so don't be alarmed that you can't reach f/2.8 at 1:1 magnification. Other macro lenses don't report it, but it still happens to them.

From my recollection it was quite sharp, wasn't too bad with AF (as long as you use the appropriate limiter, was well built and has their nice AF/MF clutch.
