So I finally got my Canon Rebel XT.
And i'm having trouble with the manual mode. I'm pretty much a noob to photography and all that, so i'm trying to figure out things. I'm working with the stock 18-55 lens right now, but i'm gonna get that 50 MM lens where it takes light in better or whatever.

But anyway, I want to figure out how to do good night photography with my stock lens, buildings at night and things like that, so if anyone could give me any tips that would be great, thanks.

Also if anyone has MSN messenger and it would be more convenient for you to talk to me through there, my addy is: Bone420Crusher@hotmail.com

    Thanks in advance.

OK, It seems like you know nothing about DSLR's.

So I'll help where I can.

On the Night Shooting Issue, You gotta set the shutter speed low. As in like 2 Seconds low. The Longer the shutter is open, the more light it takes in. And in low light situations like Night Shooting, You need to set the shutter speed low. But for this, you need to hold the camera perfectly still. Which is nearly impossible, thats why you need to have a tripod, As it holds the camera still.

In addition to what Tel mentions you also need to use a remote switch as pushing the shutter button can move the camera as well. A higher ISO helps too. It takes practice to get the results you want, so keep at it, practice, practice and more practice.

BTW, which DSLR did you get?

But yeah, I 've got like anti shake or something in my tripod, because It doesn't give me shake at all.

um , my pentax has a shutter option which delays about 2 seconds to avoid
camera shake during long exposures, also a 25 second one too get in shots.
with this i really dont see the need for a remote in that night shooting deal.
dont most cameras have this also?
