Sigma 17-17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM

I am looking for opinions on the17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM Zoom Lens for Nikon DSLRs with APS-C Sensors. Thinking about getting one of these and would like to know as much about is possible from everyone, especially the folks that have used or owned one. Thanks for any input you may provide, Jeff

All the reviews I read say it is a great lens! Nobody here has one or used one that can give me some input? Jeff

Can't comment on the Sigma, but I have the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and find it to be an excellent piece of glass at an excellent price. You might want to consider it as well.

Meant to mention, mine is the 1st gen for Canon. A couple of Nikon shooters I know have the Nikon version and love it. One has the 1st gen and one has the newer VC version.
